Pittsburgh PA Family Photographer | Nicolette Dixon Photography | Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | Valentine’s Day

As a Pittsburgh PA family photographer, I couldn’t resist taking pictures of my girls on Valentine’s Day.   Valentine’s Day has definitely changed since having kids.  I love that it has become more of a family holiday.  This was the first year that Allie actually helped make her Valentine’s for her class.   I found this cute “I’m Hooked on You” Valentine on Pinterest.  Allie wrote her name on each one and made a special pile for the boys and girls.  I love that I got to help out at her preschool for their Valentine’s Day party.  It was so cute watching her as she carefully placed the Valentine’s Day cards in everyone’s bag.

I really wanted to make this Valentine’s Day special for my girls.  The night before Valentine’s Day, after the girls went to bed, my husband went out and picked up 12 red heart-shaped balloons.  We decorated our dining room table with a red table cloth, adorable conversation heart plates, two Valentine’s Day sock monkeys for Allie and Adalyn, and then tied the balloons onto the chairs.  I put the Valentine’s Day tumbler game in the middle of the table.  I found this idea on Pinterest and knew Allie would love it!   The next morning Allie’s face lit up when she saw the table.   She couldn’t wait to play with the balloons!   We started out our day by making Valentine’s Day pancakes with strawberries and blueberries.  We then played the Valentine’s Day tumbler game.   The game was filled with making silly faces at each other, eskimo kisses, hugs, sharing our favorite memories, and telling each other what we loved about each other.  Later in the day, the girls were running around the house with the balloons.  I grabbed my camera and took some pictures of them playing on Allie’s bed.    We ended our day by making Valentine’s Day cookies and having a family movie night!

Sewickley Family Photographer | Sewickley, Pennsylvania | Merry Christmas

As a Sewickley family photographer, I know how important it is to document this time in my children’s lives.  Christmas is my favorite time of year.   It is a time for me to remember to slow down and focus on spending time with my family.   I honestly have been looking forward to Christmas since July.   I admit it, I am the girl that walks into a store and gets excited when I see them bringing out Christmas decorations in the middle of September.   This time of year just feels so magical to me.  The Christmas lights, music, and movies make me feel all warm inside.   I have always looked forward to this time of year, but now even more since I became a mother.   Last year we started a Count Down to Christmas calendar.  Every day Allie opens an envelope to see what we are going to do that day.  Over the past month we have read Christmas stories and drank hot chocolate by the Christmas tree.  We made homemade Christmas cards and salt dough ornaments.  We made popcorn and cuddled up together as we watched Christmas movies.  We visited Santa.  We decorated a gingerbread house and Christmas cookies.  We made snowman pizza and snowman pancakes.   Here are just a few of my favorite moments over the past month.
