Meet one of my newest clients, Jack! Last month I got to do an in-home photography session for Jack and his parents, Jamie and Jared. Jamie’s friend, Stephanie, gifted them this session as a baby present. What an amazing and thoughtful gift! As a Pittsburgh maternity and newborn photographer, I love that Jamie wanted lifestyle photos in a natural setting. Their home is beautiful and had the perfect amount of natural light. I feel that the Jack’s newborn pictures truly document this time in their lives in a meaningful environment. I hope that the pictures always bring back memories of how little Jack was when he was born and his adorable little features for years to come.

My favorite part of the session was seeing the tenderness on Jamie and Jared’s faces as they held Jack and cared for him. I love his long fingers and how relaxed he was. Here are some of my favorite photos from Jack’s session.

I couldn’t wait for Kelly and Brian’s session! Because it was cold, we did a lifestyle family session in their home. It was such a fun morning! Graham and Abby were having the time of their life jumping on the bed and tickling each other! Halle and Henry were absolutely adorable! I could have taken pictures of them all day! After their session we got together so that Kelly and Brian could pick out which pictures they wanted to put up in their home. I love that Kelly and Brian are creating a wall with pictures from all of the photoshoots that they do as a family. It will be amazing to see how that wall changes and grows over time!

I asked Kelly to write a couple of sentences about her family and her experience and this is what she wrote.

“We had a wonderful experience with Nicolette. A family of six with four kids under age 5 is not for the weak of heart but I could tell from her gorgeous online collection she was up for the challenge. Sewickley Kid Photographer | Nicolette Dixon Photography | Sewickley, Pennsylvania | Allie

Lifestyle photography is one of my favorite sessions to shoot as Sewickley kid photographer. In a lifestyle session, I get to document your life so that you can look back and remember those moments that are so meaningful to you. My daughter, Allie, loves to pull out her step stool and be in the kitchen while we are cooking. My mom was able to celebrate Easter with us this year. The day before Easter she wanted to make a bunny cake with Allie. Allie put on her apron and chef hat and joined my mom in the kitchen. As they were working, I couldn’t resist grabbing my camera and documenting this moment. Allie’s favorite part was tossing the coconut on top of the bunny cake. Allie was so proud of the cake they made together. She even got to help roll the fondant for the eyes, nose, and toes. My favorite part was when Allie started patting the bunny’s head.

Sewickley PA Photographer | Nicolette Dixon Photography | Sewickley, Pennsylvania | Making Valentine’s Day Cookies with Grandma-Day 1

As a Sewickley PA photographer, I am always picking up my camera and taking pictures of my children. I love that my mom will get to celebrate Valentine’s Day with us this year. One request that she had was to make Valentine’s Day cookies with Allie! She went out and even picked up an apron for her. It was fun watching them work together side by side!

“This year I had the pleasure of making valentine cookies with Allie, my grand daughter. She has become very good at mixing the dry ingredients while I mix up the wet ingredients in separate bowls. We make good working partners! She looked so cute in her chef’s hat and new apron from Spoons n’ Spice.

We chose a sugar cookie recipe that we received from my daughter, Alexa. It is a very good recipe that includes almond extract and takes very little time to make. The recipe calls for butter, sugar, flour and baking powder. We rolled out the dough and cut out the cookies in the shape of hearts. With Allie’s help, we baked them in a 350 degree oven for about 10 minutes. We frosted the cookies with a powdered sugar and milk mixture. Each cookie was decorated with pink frosting, assorted sprinkles, and white pearl sugar beads. They looked very cute.

I have enjoyed my time in Utah with my family. I will treasure all of my experiences here, the great recipes and cake decorating that I have done with Niki and Allie. We enjoyed many fun meals and picnics at the park. The portfolio of my cakes for my website look great and I appreciate the memories we have created.”-Bonnie

As a Pittsburgh family photographer, I truly enjoy taking pictures of our everyday life. My mom has been staying with us for the past couple of weeks. She is the owner of the bakery, S’more Cake. The past couple of weeks we have been baking cakes and trying out new recipes. Allie is loving every minute of it. When my mom is in the kitchen, Allie is right next to her the entire time. My mom even gave her a little chef hat to wear while she is baking. It is so cute! On Friday, my mom was making a coconut almond cake. Allie was mixing brown sugar and coconut in her little kitchen. I had to take pictures of this! We all couldn’t wait to dig into this cake when it was done. It was delicious! The toasted almonds and coconut on the top finished the cake perfectly!

“I really wanted to make a very special coconut almond cake with Allie. Grandpa Tom had made a little red stove for her last Christmas. She loves to cook and bake with her little pans. Allie saw me making a cake today and asked if she could help. I moved the little stove closer to the counter. I also gave her a chef’s hat. We had fun mixing the coconut with the brown sugar and measuring the flour for the mix. Our cake is a three layer coconut cake with a coconut filling. It was frosted with a cream cheese frosting and topped with toasted coconut and almonds. It is a very rich cake that will please your sweet tooth. Allie is a great cooking companion! I can see us doing more cooking projects together in the future.” -Bonnie
