Precious little Maren was born in April! After Jordan’s maternity session, I couldn’t wait for Maren to be born and to finally meet her! We did Maren’s newborn session in her home. I absolutely loved that Jordan wanted to do a lifestyle session especially since they planning on moving out of their first home this year. It truly was the perfect setting to document such an amazing time in their life. Maren is absolutely beautiful! My heart melted when I saw her smile! During her session, she was so content snuggled up in her parents’ arms, I knew she was exactly where she wanted to be. I can’t wait to see how Maren grows and changes over the next year! Pittsburgh Lifestyle Photographers | Groundbreaking Ceremony

We broke ground this week! We have been looking forward to this moment since the day we decided to build our home. The past month I have been thinking of fun ways to get my girls involved and excited about the process. One of the ideas that I definitely wanted to do was a little groundbreaking ceremony. As soon as we found out that they were breaking ground, we loaded up our shovels and headed over. The girls loved watching the construction workers prepare the lot for the following day and playing in the rocks. After officially breaking ground, we headed out for ice cream to celebrate!

Michael and Nicole’s session was so meaningful! Nicole had a beautiful vision for her Christmas card this year. I loved the idea and couldn’t wait to start planning the details. We did part of their session in their home with their Christmas tree as a backdrop and also took some of their family portraits at a gorgeous outdoor spot in their neighborhood. One of my favorite moments during the session was when Nicole was singing to Stephen. The look on Stephen’s face as he listened to his mother’s voice is beyond precious! You could tell that he was exactly where he wanted to be. Here are some of my favorite pictures from their session!

“While searching for a photographer, we were looking for someone who would be able to capture our sons first Christmas while remembering and incorporating our daughter that we lost 2 years ago! After searching the internet I found Nicolette. She was so wonderful to work with! From the photo shoot itself, to the countless emails I sent her, to the viewing and ordering meeting, Nicolette made the process so enjoyable and effortless!! I had a very specific vision of how I wanted Stephen first Christmas pictures and card to look like and she executed it beautifully! We were blown away at how wonderful his pictures turned out. We literally wanted to purchase every picture Nicolette took because they were so beautiful! Today is Allie’s first day of kindergarten! Allie has been looking forward to the first day of school all summer! The thing that she has been looking forward to the most is getting to ride on the school bus. I can’t wait for my little girl to get home so that I can give her a big hug and hear all about her first day of school!

Pittsburgh Kid Photographers | Nicolette Dixon Photography | Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | Happy Birthday Allie

We usually plan Allie’s birthday party around a theme and have a cake made that matches that theme. This year when I asked Allie what she wanted to do for her birthday, she said she wanted to go camping. So instead of a party, we are taking the girls to the lake later this month. Since we were home for her actual birthday, I still wanted to make the day special. That morning she woke up to birthday pancakes and presents. I decided that morning that she needed a cake on her actual birthday as well so we headed to Target and got all of the ingredients to make a yellow cake with chocolate frosting. I picked up some cute decorations for the top of the cake and carefully thought about what sprinkles and candles would match the birthday banner cake topper. This cake was going to be adorable! When we got home, Allie really wanted to help me make the cake so we laid everything out on the coffee table. I thought that I would grab a couple of pictures so ran upstairs to grab my camera. By the time I got downstairs, Allie was already frosting the cake. I grabbed a couple of pictures and then when I went to put the camera down, she grabbed the cake and placed it on the cake stand. In the meantime, Adalyn was running around and grabbing spoons so that she could help. It was chaos! Even though I was planning on decorating the cake myself and having Allie assist, it was way more fun this way. While I was washing the chocolate frosting off of Adalyn’s hands and face, Allie had completely taken over control of the cake decorating and put the birthday banner on. I quickly grabbed a couple of pictures before I had to stop Adalyn again from getting into something else. When I got back I saw that Allie had stuck all of the candles in the cake. Although the cake turned out a little different from what I had envisioned, I love the memories we created yesterday. It was complete chaos and there were sprinkles all over the place, but it was worth it to see the smile on Allie’s face. The crazy part was that when we tried lighting the cake, the candles set the birthday banner on fire. Then after I blew out the fire, we ran out of lighter fluid. So instead of blowing out 20 candles, Allie only got to blow out a few. Here are a couple of pictures from our chaotic afternoon decorating Allie’s birthday cake.
