As a Sewickley PA photographer, I am always picking up my camera and taking pictures of my children. I love that my mom will get to celebrate Valentine’s Day with us this year. One request that she had was to make Valentine’s Day cookies with Allie!  She went out and even picked up an apron for her.  It was fun watching them work together side by side!

“This year I had the pleasure of making valentine cookies with Allie, my grand daughter. She has become very good at mixing the dry ingredients while I mix up the wet ingredients in separate bowls. We make good working partners! She looked so cute in her chef’s hat and new apron from Spoons n’ Spice.

We chose a sugar cookie recipe that we received from my daughter, Alexa. It is a very good recipe that includes almond extract and takes very little time to make. The recipe calls for butter, sugar, flour and baking powder. We rolled out the dough and cut out the cookies in the shape of hearts. With Allie’s help, we baked them in a 350 degree oven for about 10 minutes. We frosted the cookies with a powdered sugar and milk mixture. Each cookie was decorated with pink frosting, assorted sprinkles, and white pearl sugar beads. They looked very cute.

I have enjoyed my time in Utah with my family. I will treasure all of my experiences here, the great recipes and cake decorating that I have done with Niki and Allie. We enjoyed many fun meals and picnics at the park. The portfolio of my cakes for my website look great and I appreciate the memories we have created.”-Bonnie
