Pittsburgh Kid Photographer | Moon Township PA Kid Photography | Nicolette Dixon Photography | Maverick
I love surprises! Jenna wanted to surprise her husband with portraits of their son for his birthday. Since Maverick loves construction vehicles and Michael hauls heavy equipment, we ended up deciding on a construction site theme for the session. We even got a couple of really meaningful pictures of Maverick riding his semi truck! The session was so much fun!!! I loved watching Maverick playing with the diggers! My favorite part about the session though was when Maverick was roaring at me! After the session Jenna and I got together and created a beautiful wall display for their family room! It has been so much fun keeping everything a secret for several weeks! The morning of Michael’s birthday, I headed over to Jenna’s house to deliver wall display. That evening Michael got a huge surprise when he walked in the door! Here are some of my favorite pictures from Maverick’s session!
I asked Jenna to write a couple of sentence about her experience and this is what she wrote.
“Slightly over 4 years ago I was in search for a photographer for our wedding. Before meeting with the first photographer, I literally said to my then fiancé that we were not going to make any decisions that day because I wanted to meet with several photographers. Well, I completely strayed from my plan and hired Nicolette on the spot. She wasn’t the typical salesperson trying to sell her skills. Rather, she took the first 45 minutes of our meeting learning about our relationship and asking questions to get to know us personally, which in turn would allow her to know what was important to us especially when documenting such an important day. She then showed us her samples of her truly breathtaking work. The so-called meeting actually felt like we were reconnection with a great friend.
Nicolette truly goes above and beyond for her clients to capture memories. From freezing in the ice cold pouring rain at our ski resort engagement session, to laying in dirt and weeds on the ground, to actually flying back to Pittsburgh for our wedding after being relocated for her husbands job, she’s doesn’t hesitate to do what it takes to make her clients happy and completely satisfied.
I remained connected to Nicolette through social media while she was residing elsewhere because she’s such a joyous person and I always hoped she would move back. When I learned that she relocated back to the area again, there was no doubt in my mind that I had to hire her for my son’s pictures, especially since while she was gone I had several awful experiences with other photographers. Nothing compares to her skills and compassion for her work. She’s reliable, trustworthy, and goes out of her way for her clients.
When I contacted Nicolette for this particular shoot, I let her know the situation and that I was in a time crunch to get pictures put on canvases for my husbands birthday. She was extremely accommodating and helpful. She even provided me with tips for the photo shoot and clothing recommendations. What I am truly grateful for is that fact that she was able to take my crazy idea of having a photo shoot with heavy equipment and she searched for a location and even ensured the evening prior that the location was still good.
When we met the evening of he shoot, it was as though 4 years hadn’t passed. As a mom of 2, she knew how to interact with Maverick all while constantly putting a smile on his face. She was a total champion lying in the dirt to capture the perfect angles all while getting dirt and rocks thrown at her as well. With it being a construction site, she always considered his safety first and foremost. She didn’t have to ask me what type of images were important because that is the type of information she gathers prior to make sure the shoot goes smoothly and efficiently. That’s essential when you have a restless and very impatient toddler.
Furthermore, not only did the shoot go off without a hitch, but the preview of the pictures far surpassed my expectations. The way she welcomed us to her home, presented the slideshow, and assisted with the proper picture arrangement, truly made my family feel special. She is truly genuine and take prides in her work and her relationships. I have to commend her further for keeping it a secret, completing everything well a head of schedule, and for hand delivering the canvases the day of my husband’s birthday. She was even helpful enough to provide a template and other items necessary to ease with the hanging.
Her work speaks volumes! No matter where I turn in my house, there are memories captured perfectly due to her artistic skills. I would highly recommend Nicolette to anyone searching for a photographer. We have done four shoots together and I plan to do many more in the future!”-Jenna
