Pittsburgh Photographer | Nicolette Dixon Photography | Making Valentine’s Day Cookies with Grandma Day 2

Pittsburgh Photographer | Nicolette Dixon Photography | Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | Making Valentine’s Day Cookies with Grandma

Happy Valentine’s Day!   I love documenting moments in my kids lives.  This year, I love that we get to celebrate Valentine’s Day with my mom this year!   We have planned our entire day out already. We are making cinnamon rolls and heart shaped pancakes right now.  We are planning on spending the day at the park. I am really looking forward to tonight. We are going to lay pillows and blankets on the ground, make popcorn, get into our pajamas and have a movie night.

“This year I had the pleasure of making valentine cookies with Allie, my grand daughter. She has become very good at mixing the dry ingredients while I mix up the wet ingredients in separate bowls. We make good working partners! She looked so cute in her chef’s hat and new apron from Spoons n’ Spice.
We chose a sugar cookie recipe that we received from my daughter, Alexa. It is a very good recipe that includes almond extract and takes very little time to make. The recipe calls for butter, sugar, flour and baking powder. We rolled out the dough and cut out the cookies in the shape of hearts. With Allie’s help, we baked them in a 350 degree oven for about 10 minutes. We frosted the cookies with a powdered sugar and milk mixture. Each cookie was decorated with pink frosting, assorted sprinkles, and white pearl sugar beads. They looked very cute.
We thought it would be fun to have a valentine’s day portrait session with Allie in her little red and pink tutu, eating her cookies. She is very proud of herself and will enjoy looking at her pictures. They will remind her of the fun time we had together. Pictures have always been very important to me, something that I learned from my mom.
I have enjoyed my time with my family. I will treasure all of my experiences here, the great recipes and cake decorating that I have done with Niki and Allie. We enjoyed many fun meals and picnics at the park. The portfolio of my cakes for my website look great and I appreciate the memories we have created”.-Bonnie
